Ann Mitchell
March 14, 1934 - January 9, 2023

Anna "Ann" Belle Mitchell, 88, of Sikeston Missouri, passed away peacefully Monday, January 9, 2023, surrounded by her family at Delta South Nursing Home.

Ann was born on March 14, 1934 in Charleston, Missouri to Marion and Evelyn Blackburn. She grew up in Charleston but spent most of her adult life in Sikeston.

After high school, she went to nursing school and graduated from the first LPN nursing class of Missouri Delta. She enjoyed working many years as a maternity nurse at the hospital and then later as a nurse in the office of Dr. Martin.

She loved attending her church and participating in church and community functions. She was a true patriot and loved her country. She actively fought for our freedoms and stood for God and Country. Above all else, Ann loved her Lord Jesus. Her life was spent ministering to her family, friends, neighbors, church, and patients. She always wanted to be a missionary and the Lord used her in her hometown to be a missionary sharing the love of Christ to anyone who met her. One of her favorite joys was serving as Sunday School teacher for the children at her church. Her life was spent in service as a nurse and by ministering to all she knew.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; siblings, Bill Blackburn, Rolwing Blackburn and Delores Newton; daughter, Cherie Lloyd; grandson, Nathan Wallace; and nephew, David Blackburn.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Deane and husband Bill Deane of Sikeston, MO; 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Richard) Selleck of Gardner, AR, Kristen (Kurt) Tarwater of Columbia, MO, Leah (Heath) Rutchotzke of Overland Park, KS, Jennifer (Chris) Baker of Sikeston, Benjamin Walters of Compton, AR, Lauren (Heath) McGill of Navarre FL, Clay (Sara Beth) Deane of Sikeston, Will (Amber) Deane of Sikeston, and Michelle Newton of Osage Beach, MO; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ann wholeheartedly loved her family. Her family and friends will miss her greatly but know what a crowd was there to meet her in heaven to celebrate her arrival. She has left a legacy that will live on and glorify her heavenly Father.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
