It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas J. Barnes in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who passed away on December 27, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends.

Tom was a proud native of Washington, D.C. He was highly respected in the local construction industry, which was his profession. Tom was a member of Dignity Washington for over a decade and served as an acolyte and lector. He was involved in many aspects of the former Dignity Center. He received a Dignity Washington Community Service Award for his guidance in working with contractors to survey the Dignity Center to determine its viability, evaluating the status of the Dignity Center, its eventual sale, the purchase of the current Dignity Center near Dupont Circle, and the beginnings of its renovation. Tom had a gentle and caring spirit.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 5th 2023 at 10:15 AM at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church (2800 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20020). A mass of christian burial was held on Thursday, January 5th 2023 at 11:15 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 5th 2023 at 12:30 PM at the Cedar Hill Cemetery (Governor Ritchie Hwy, Arnold, MD 21012).
