Thelma Frances Mills Acord, 86, of Slab Fork, WV went peacefully to her Heavenly home on January 7, 2023.

Born January 29, 1936 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Green and Mary Bessie Green.
Thelma was a faithful member of Lester Baptist Church in Lester, WV. She enjoyed volunteering at Saint Luke's Hospital in Bluefield, WV, was a member of TOPS in Mullens, WV for many years, and Thelma enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a dedicated homemaker and made all who visited her home feel welcome.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James E (Jim) Mills; three brothers, Robie E Green, Floyd Green Jr, and Thomas A Green; three sisters, Minnie Wyatt, Wanda Kuhlke, and Beulah Reed. Also, her late husband Ivan Acord.

Those left to cherish her memory; a sister, Carroll Cox; a daughter, Teresa Lane and husband, Johnny; two sons, Allen Mills and wife, Jennifer and Gary Mills and wife, Leisha; two stepchildren, Tim Acord and wife, Angel and Patsy Brury and husband; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Sweeney and husband, Earl, Terra Harman and husband, Landon, Jessica Lane, Jason Mills, Jennifer Mills, Corey Mills, and Casey Mills; two step grandchildren, Kelsey Davidson and husband, Justin and Logan Huggins and wife, Sabrina; four great grandchildren, Lane Harman and wife, Breann, Tyler Harman, Molly Harman, and Natalija Sears; step great grandchildren, Ryland Davidson, Reece Davidson, Annie Huggins, Max Huggins, and Salem Huggins; and two great-great grandchildren, Jaxon Harman and Chloe Harman.

Thelma was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched many lives and told everyone she met to "have blessed day." She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Pastors Charles (Butch) Acord and John Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in the New Zion Cemetery, Kelleysville.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and compassion shown to their mother during her final days.
