Eugene Evert Lee of Findlay and formerly of Bluffton and Vanlue, passed away Sunday Jan. 15 at Sunrise Senior Living.
He was born Sept. 11, 1934 to the late Evert and Avonell (Robison) Lee. Gene married Barbara "Sue" (Lawrence) Lee on Aug. 2, 1953, and she passed away this past December. They celebrated 69 years of marriage, and were blessed to raise four children, Dennis (Cindy) Lee of Bluffton; Mike of Findlay; Greg (Luann) of Findlay, and Kathy (Charles) Morris of Adrian, Michigan.
They have 10 grandchildren: Amber Lee of Dublin, Evan (Cristin) Lee of Columbus, Matthew Lee (Annette) of Willoughby, Andrew Lee of Columbus, Angela (Scott) Bergman, of Arlington, Melissa (Tyler) Weir of Charlotte North Carolina, Nicklaus (Tessa) Lee, of Arlington, Ashley & Abigail Morris of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lindsey (Greg) Carson of Phoenix, Arizona, and nine great grandchildren, McKenna, Clay, Brody, Eleanor, Gabriella, Emersyn, Carson, Nora, and Julia. Gene is survived by his sister-in-law Francine Lawrence of Sylvania.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother and sister-in-law Richard and Shirley Lee, and infant twin granddaughters Allison and Amanda Lee.
Gene was a 1952 graduate of Vanlue High School and devoted most of his entire life to farming. A man of quiet nature, you could find him actively involved in the local agriculture business. He was devoted to his family and thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including following his kids in all of their sporting activities.
He was a member of the former Vanlue Grain & Supply, served on the Vanlue Board of Education, was a Vanlue school bus driver, a long-time score keeper for Vanlue Athletics, and was a former Amanda Township Trustee. Gene was a member of Vanlue Christ United Methodist and held various positions within the church.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and thankfulness to the loving caregivers extended to our mom and dad from Hospice and Sunrise Senior Living this past year.
Visitation will be 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. Thursday Jan. 19, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Gene's service will be at 1 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lee Cemetery in Amanda Township.
Memorial contributions can be made to Vanlue Christ United Methodist or the Vanlue Fire Department.
