Utah Pioneer Dies After Four Days Of Illness
Mary Staheli Oberhansly, 85, a resident of Payson for almost to 70 years died Saturday of pneumonia in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Simons of Vine Street.
Mrs. Oberhansly was born at Amrisvil, Switzerland, March 1847, a daughter of George and Barbara Held Staheli. The family came to Utah in 1802. The daughter, Mrs. Oberhansly walked the entire distance accross the plains from the Missouri River.
Their first Utah home was in Sanpete county and two years later moved to Payson.
Mrs. Oberhansly was as married to Ferdinand Oberhansly in 1868 in the L. D. S. Endowment House in Salt Lake City.
She was an honorary member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and they recently held a special meeting in her honor.
Mrs. Oberhansly is survived by three daughters and one son; Mrs. Emma Spencer, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Clara Simons, Murray; Mrs. Daisy Heaton, Payson; John Oberhansly of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held in Payson Thursday.
