Jim was born June 4, 1939, in Osage City, the youngest of 7 children of Arthur Raymond and Florence Augusta Milbradt Griffith. His mother said he had to see how everything worked and would take things apart, some of which never went back together correctly. That's probably why as an adult he carefully numbered every motor piece when taking them apart. He attended Silver Lake High School. He married his 17 year old love (me), August 15, 1959, at the Tecumseh United Methodist Church. We had 5 children, Theresa Marie who died at birth, Cynthia Louise Griffith Nelson, Rebecca Sue Griffith Burgess, Debra Ann Griffith Rukes and Daniel Lee Griffith. He lived to see all but 2 of his grandchildren and he loved to build things for them and play with them. He worked as a truck driver and worked for almost every truck line in Topeka during layoff times. When PIE truck line went under, he went to work for Payless shoes in their warehouse loading trucks until her retired. He love to laugh, tell jokes, going fishing late at night, going to auctions and going to the casino, where unlike most people he was usually lucky. We had a Flea market booth at Forbes for a while and he loved doing that. The Chickadee cafe was his favorite place to drink coffee and talk with friends. Jim had cancer surgery in 1980 to remove 85 percent of his stomach and lived till February 2008 when cancer re-occurred again and took his life. We had 49 years together and he was the love of my life and I miss him so much.
