Services for Gary Michael Burton of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home.
Mr. Burton, 59, died of respiratory failure Saturday, Feb. 23, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Mr. Burton was born July 26, 1948 to Stacy and Betty Olene (Woods) Burton in St. Louis, MO. He moved to Itta Bena at an early age. He graduated from Leflore County High School and attended Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University. He was a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for 16 years before his retirement. Mr. Burton was an avid Ole Miss and New York Yankees fan. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his lifelong friend Bo Edwards.
He is surved by his wife, Mary Dantone Burton of Greenwood; four sons, Jeff Burton of Madison and his wife, Betsy; Jon Burton of Greenwood and his wife, Kristy; Stacy Burton of Gulfport and Tony Burton of Madison; a brother Dorsey Burton of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren, Parker O'Bryant, Taylor O'Bryant and Garner O'Bryant, all of Madison, and Mary Raylynn Burton of Greenwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis McKay will officiate at the services.
Palbearers will be Rick Truit, Vince Dantone, Chris Dantone, Donald Wayne Oaks, Johnny Hancock, and Joey Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Fresenius Renal Care, Dr. Randy White and Dr. Jeff Moses.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
