Henry Hope, son of Celia/Cecelia and William Hope, Sr. was born in Liberty Co., GA in 1819. Along with three brothers, William, Jr., John and David Hope they arrived in Alachua Co., Territory of Florida in the early 1830s. Each served in FL Militia units during the 2nd Seminole Indian Wars from 1835 to 1842. Henry gave an affidavit explaining one of the incidents leading to the onset of the War. He and his wife, Alatha Frances Garrison were living in Hague, Alachua Co. up through 1846, but appear on the 1850 U. S. Census in Benton (Hernando) Co. although the enumerator used his brother, David's name. He had one son, William Michael Hope die in lake City, FL just after the Battle of Olustee from measles. He and his wife Alatha had tin-type pictures made which have passed down through his descendants. Note Henry Hope grave in the Brooksville City Cemetery.
