Norma Jean Wilson passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, in Stephenville.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Friday, July 26, at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Norma Jean was born April 12, 1941, in Erath County to Earl Houston Golightly and Thelma Johnson Golightly. She married Gail Wardleigh Wilson on April 4, 1958. Norma grew up in Clairette, then moved to Stephenville where she was a 1958 graduate of Stephenville High School.

Norma Jean was both a creative and curious person which led to two great passions in her life. She was a truly gifted artist who loved both painting and sculpture. The main subjects of her art work were her greatest joys in life, her family. This family pride and curiosity led her to another passion, genealogy. She worked for years and compiled a very detailed family tree for both the Golightly and Wilson families. She and Gail traveled many miles to courthouses, libraries, and cemeteries to discover the history of their ancestors. She loved to share this great achievement with everyone.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Gail Wardleigh, daughter Robin Lavonne and husband Ricky Tatum, son John Earl Wilson, son Stephen Ward and wife Karen Wilson, all of Stephenville; grandson Luke Harrison and wife Lauren Tatum of Garland, granddaughters Courtney Jean Tatum and Hannah Joan Wilson, both of Ft. Worth; and great grandson Nathaniel Han Tatum.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert Von and Carroll Lee Golightly, both of Stephenville.
