"HADLEY Private services will be held for Robert H. Abbett, 83, of Hadley, who died Tuesday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born in Springfield, Mass. He had lived in Albany before moving to Hadley in 1974. Mr. Abbett was an Army veteran of World War II. He received the Purple Heart in Sicily. He was employed by New York Central Railroad and the Postal Service in Albany, retiring in 1974. Mr. Abbett was a member of the Wiggand Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Albany and the American Legion Post in Broadalbin, Fulton County. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Andre Abbett; a son, Alan R. Abbett of Stonington, Conn.; a daughter, Judith Hansen of Albany; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home."
