Douglas "Doug" James Harris, 52, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Black Oak, Indiana died February 21, 2008 at his home. He was born October 3, 1955 in Black Oak Indiana.
He is survived by his wife the former Jacqueline M. Frailey. They married on April 29, 1978.
Two children were born to this union DJ (April) Harris and Kristine (Justin) Harris/Johnson of the home. Besides his wife and children he is survived by 2 grandchildren; Elizabeth Loretta Marie Brown and Douglas James Harris; 3 brothers Danny (Janie) Harris and John (Cindy) Harris and Dennis Woodling; 1 sister Paula (Barry) Dodd; a half sister Leona Issacson; 2 half brothers Ed and Eugene Overby and brother-in-law John Sumner; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Doug grew up in the Black Oak section of Gary and has many good friends who still live there. In 1982 he moved his family to Oklahoma City and has lived here for the last 25 years.
He was always ready to help a friend in need and made many friends with his happy go lucky attitude. He loved to fish and work on cars. He was an industrial maintenance engineer, working at different companies for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Eugene and Elizabeth Geneva (Burkhart) Harris; sisters Georgene Sumner and Patricia Anderson and one grand-daughter Heavenly Johnson.
Services and viewing are Wednesday February 27th at 2:00pm at Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.
