Richard passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep on January 20, 2023. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived and missed by his loving wife Joanne of 40 years; and his children, Jennifer (Jeff) Zajac, and Robert (Tina) Walega. Forever cherished by his grandchildren. The devoted Brother of Christine (Michael) Kalis. Richard held a big place in his heart for his Granddogs, Skyy, Blu and Storm. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lottie Walega.

Rich graduated from Crestwood High School; Class of 1975 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. He was known to be the life of the party and would light up the room with his infectious laughter and uncensored personality. He was known for his big heart and giving nature. Some of his favorite things in life were enjoying time up north at his happy place in Hubbard Lake, boating, fishing and riding his Harley. Family was an important part of his life and he always looked forward to their yearly traditions of Good Friday and Christmas Eve.

Rich will be terribly missed by all those he has left behind. Our hearts are broken by his sudden passing.
