Mary Jane Cunningham was born April 25, 1939, in WaKeeney, KS, to Anthony Aschenbrenner and Mary (Reitmeyer) Aschenbrenner. She passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, at the age of 83.

Upon graduation from Trego Community High School, Mary met Samuel Lee Cunningham. On January 18, 1958, she married Samuel Lee Cunningham in WaKeeney at Christ the King Catholic Church, to this union, they were blessed with three children. Mary and Samuel enjoyed 52 years of married life together in WaKeeney, KS.

Her love for her family was very apparent and always came first. Mary's favorite hobbies included a good day at the casino gambling, and spending time crocheting. She was a parishioner of the Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, KS.

Mary is survived by two children, Lori Mahagan; Julie Cunningham (Joseph Lupomech); brother Leroy Aschenbrenner.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lee Cunningham, father Anthony Aschenbrenner, mother, Mary (Reitmeyer) Aschenbrenner, son, Allen Cunningham, and infant twins Sam and Pam Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer, KS, on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at the Christ the King Cemetery, WaKeeney, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trego County Lemke Memorial Long Term Care.
