GUSHER -- Robert Burton Allred, 82, Uintah Basin pioneer, died at his home in Gusher Wednesday at 4 p.m. of causes incident to age.

He was born March 2, 1869 at Wallsburg, Wasatch County, a son of James Franklin and Jennie McKenzie Allred, He made his first trip to the Uintah Basin when he was 15 years of age as an independent freighter.

He returned to the basin two years later and settled at Vernal where he engaged in freighting and raising sheep. He married Sylvia Roberts in Vernal, May 1, 1900. They moved to Gusher 27 years ago where he was a farmer.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his widow, Gusher; and the following sons and daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Theresa) Eaton, Vernal; Mrs. Floyd (Fay) Peterson, Roosevelt; Clyde and Glen Allred, Gusher; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Martin Allred, Provo and George Allred, Wallsburg.

Funeral services will be announced by Olpin Mortuary.
