Lawrence E. "Babe" Graham, 75, of 56 Washington St., Oak Hill, was stricken ill while out hunting this morning at Mays Mills, near Rockland. He was hunting with his grandchildren when he apparently suffered a heart attack, and was found on the ground by other Franklin hunters. The Community Ambulance Service was summoned. He was dead upon arrival at the Franklin Hospital at 8:32 am. A son of William and Susan Mitchell Graham, he was born in Franklin on June 15, 1898.
He was raised in the Franklin area and attended the Salina schools. He worked for a time at Venango Manufacturing Co., then for more than 35 years as a machinist at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., retiring in 1963. He was a member of the CPT Quarter Century Club, and the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible School and was on the pastor's parish committee. He was also a member of the Rainbow Sportsmen's Club and was an ardent sportsman, particularly fond of hunting and fishing.
On Jan. 25, 1921, he married Hazel Belle Beggs, who survives, along with two daughters, Mrs. William T. ( Virginia ) Wertman, Morgantown, WV; Miss Mary Ellen Graham, of Franklin; one son, Richard L., of Franklin; seven grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are one daughter, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Services w ill be at the Huff Chapel at 11 am Wednesday with Rev. Lloyd S. Sturtz, pastor of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
