1st Supply Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; killed in Iraq when unexploded ordnance he was handling detonated.PFC. Rodriguez was 19 years old and from Norwalk, Calif; He was assigned to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Force Service group, Camp Pendleton, Calif; killed in Iraq when unexploded ordnance he was handling detonated.Marine Pfc. Rodriguez was assigned to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, based at Camp Pendleton, California. He was killed when an ordnance he was handling exploded. Jose was the kind of student all his teachers liked. A Mexican immigrant, he was an honor student, an athlete and he seldom missed a high school event, especially the school dances. Jose arrived at John Glenn High School in Norwalk, California from his native Mexico as a freshman who spoke little English. By the time he graduated in 2001, he had earned high honors in college preparatory classes. He played varsity baseball at nearly any position: pitching, outfield or infield and wore his team cap to school year-round. He was usually the first kid at practice and the last kid to leave; he just loved being out there. Jose entered the Marine Corps two months after graduation and became a supply clerk.
