Charles E. "Colonel" Sanders, 67, Young America died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. He was born Sept. 2, 1940 in Kokomo to Charles E. and Sylvia (Weaver) Sanders. On April 23, 1960, in Kokomo, he married Judith C. (Lane) Sanders. who preceded in death on Feb. 15, 1995.

Charles retired from Chrysler Corp. with 30 years service. He was a Member U.A.W. 685, Charter Member of S.A.L. (Sons of the American Legion) Post 415 Galveston and was past squadron commander of the post. He enjoyed helping everyone in the community, if there was a job to do or and errand to run Charles was always ready to help.

He is survived by sons, Allen and Brenda Sanders, Kingsport, Tenn., Aaron and Myra Sanders, Kingsport, Tenn., Andy and Becky Sanders, Onward, and Anthony and Missy Sanders, Peru; daughters, Beth and Mike Grantham, Norman, Okla. and Allison and Ron DeMarais, Logansport; special companion and friend, Mable Chanley, Young America; grandchildren, Shaun, Judy, Billie, Joella, Rhiannon, Allysia, Autumn, Ashley, Savannah, Shelby and Ameila; five great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sisters, Martha Shanks, Ariz., Betty Beasley, Kokomo, Mary Miller, Cicero, Susie and Homer Gibson, Greentown, Edith Novinger, Gray, Tenn., Phyllis Langley, Grey, Tenn., and Margaret Necessary, Grey,Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, wife, three Sisters, one brother, one great- granddaughter, Alexis.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home Galveston Chapel 401 S. California St., Galveston with Jeff Reinke officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.

Memorial contributions can be made to "S.A.L. " Sons of the American Legion Post 415 Galveston. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
