Amelia was born in Denton, Texas to Jessie and Eva Mae Lynch. She grew up and graduated high school in Sanger and met Terry Cook in Denton, at JB's Drive-In. They were married in Denton on March 8, 1963 and shared nearly 60 years together. They came to Abilene in 1989 and Terry opened the Bargain Barn on Butternut Street, with Amelia serving as his secretary. After they closed the business in 2000, Amelia went to work for Abilene ISD as a bus monitor. She will be remembered for her home cooking, her sense of style, her generosity, her striking eyes, her compassion for others, willingness to forgive, always seeing the best in people, and her love for the Lord. "I love you. I love you more. I love you most, end of it."
