Barbara Jean Rogers Baity, age 73, passed peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her home in Sevierville, TN after a courageously fought battle with cancer. A native of Haywood County, NC, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Dollie W. Rogers, maternal grandparents, Forest and Marjorie P. Wright and parents, Eugene C. and Jencie W. Rogers and a niece, Robyn Julia Rogers. Barbara was a graduate of Bethel High School Class of 1966 and she later earned an Associate Degree in Education. In her youth, Barbara enjoyed many hours rolling skating. She loved and cherished her close-knit work family where she served as the registrar at Haywood Community College, retiring with 30 years of service. Recently she was employed in the Human Resource Department with Dollywood. Barbara enjoyed serving the community as a former Altrusa President. An additional highlight was being Mrs. Santa Claus in the Maggie Valley Christmas Parade for many years. She was a wonderful cook and baker, blessing her many friends and family with delicious desserts. Barbara's smile would light up a room and she had a big heart and was as beautiful inside as out – she is deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jimmie; siblings, Calvin and Carol, three nephews, four aunts, and several cousins, great nephews and a great niece.

Memorial contributions may be made to Haywood Community College Foundation or to The American Cancer Society.
