"Death date of Nov. 15, 1966 was handwritten on his obit.

Melvin Parrott, 88, of Sumner rt. 4, died Tuesday at 10:15 p.m. at Lawrence County Menorial Hospital.

He was born in Lawrence County March 14, 1878, and was a retired blacksmith.

Surviving are his wife, Nettie; the following children, Veris Parrott of Lawrenceville rt. 3, and Oris Parrott of Sumner rt. 1, Mrs. Elsie Alderson of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Zella Dalinet of Pasadena, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Vera Drechsmidt of St. Louis, Mo.

One daughter is deceased.

He was a member of the Chauncey Methodist Church.

Services will be held at the Sivert Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, with burial in the Waggoner Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday.
