John Edward (Jed) Ehmann, 93, of Notre Dame, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. John was born on January 4, 1929 in Rochester, New York to the late Herbert and Lucille (Lechleiter) Ehmann. On November 26, 1960 he married Patricia Jones who preceded him in death on March 24, 1989. John is survived by two daughters, Nora Eileen (James) Kane of El Paso, Texas, Ellen Lucille Anhut of West Palm Beach, Florida, one son, John "Carl" (Kathy) Ehmann of Bloomingdale, Illinois, two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Carly Ehmann.

John was a United States Army Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He received his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy at Saint Bernard's Seminary, and his Master's degree in Philosophy at Fordham University. He was an Assistant Director and editor at The University of Notre Dame Press for thirty years.

After retirement, John pursued his interest of traveling through Elderhostel, reading, studying history and philosophy, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. John would also travel frequently to the Rochester, New York area to visit relatives.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN from 8:30 am until 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 1050 Wilber St., South Bend, IN 46628. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
