Obituary
RIEAD, Hosea - 1844 - 1928

Hosea Riead died last Saturday evening at 6 P.M., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Neuhaus, north of Clinton, three miles, where he had been very ill for several months. He had been nearly an invalid for more than two years living with his children. He ran a cigar store in Kansas City for a number of years until he broke his hip and had never recovered. His death came as a relief from suffering and pain. He was born in Washington county, Ill., December 13, 1853 (wrong, born Dec 13, 1844), where he grew to young manhood and was married to Jane Kinyon. She went to her Heavenly home 27 years ago. Six children blessed this union, four of whom survive their father. They are: John Riead, La Junta, Colo.; Mrs. O. L. Handley, Kansas City; Will Riead and Mrs. Wm. Neuhaus, north of Clinton. There are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jane Moore and Mrs. Eliza Stull, both of Tamaroa, Ill., who were physically unable to come to the funeral. Deceased was converted 60 years ago and united with the Baptist church and had been a faithful Christian since. He was quiet and unassuming and made many friends. For a number of years he and his wife lived on a farm north of Clinton. Rev. Homer Delozier preached the funeral Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Wm. Neuhaus. Burial beside his wife and daughter in the Shawnee Mound cemetery.
