Oct. 6, 1926-Feb. 10, 2008
Ada was Born on Oct. 6, 1926 as Ada L. Kurtz in Hamilton, Ohio. She went home to our Heavenly Father joining her husband Julian R. Kinney on Feb. 10, 2008. She is survived by two sisters Lois and Carol; one daughter and two sons Kathleen Beirne, James Kinney and Chris Kinney along with their spouses Stephen, Marie and Linda; seven grandchildren Cory, Amorette, Kari, Christina, Elizabeth, Lacey Jean, Chris, Jr. and four beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was a hard working caregiver for many years working as a nurse and moved to the Kern River Valley in 1968 with her husband Julian and youngest son Chris, a 1978 KVHS graduate, making the valley their hometown. Ada was independent until she passed away this past week living in her Bodfish home of nearly 40 years along with some loving help from her caregiver Rose Moore. She will be missed dearly and remembered forever for her quick wit, independence and her incredible baking skills. In the 70's you may remember her from her popular local Restaurant the Silver Dollar Cafe located in the old Ghost Town in Bodfish, Calif. known for their home cooked meals.
Memorial Services were held at Forest Lawn 4471 Lincoln Avenue Cypress, Calif., Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 graveside where she was laid to rest along side her beloved husband Julian nearly 34 years later.
We would like to thank all our family and friends for their support at this difficult time, and, of course, Rose for her years of love and dedication. May it of been with a hug, flowers, words of support, or just being in our thoughts. We appreciate your love and kindness. The Kinney Family.
