Mary Moon Choate
September 11, 1925 - February 2, 2023
Mary Choate age 97, formerly of Grayson, GA., passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023. Mary was born in Lawrenceville, GA and attended Lawrenceville High School. She is preceded by her mother, Myrtie Wood Moon; father, Hershell Moon; brothers, Robert, Grady and Bennie Moon; sister, Inez Mullinax and husband John O. Choate; son, Johnny M. Jones; son in law, Harry R. Taylor; grandsons, Brett Taylor and John Conner. Mary is survived by, her children, Russell C (Kyle) Jones of Tucker, Janet Jones (Robert) Stoner of Roswell, Toni Taylor of Duluth, Kathy Choate of Cookeville, TN, Carol Parks of Crossville, TN; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Jamie, Maggie, Clare, Jason, Stephanie, Jesse, William and their spouses; her 12 great grandchildren; sister in law Marion Moon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary's passion in life was for her children, grandchildren and her dolls. She was well known in the southeast for her expertise in doll repair and restoration. She had a doll shop in Stone Mountain in the 1990's and had been featured in several news stories because of her tremendous skill. She was extremely creative and talented, and could take a doll in the worst condition, and effortlessly restore it to its former glorious beauty. It was not unusual to open the oven and see what was cooking only to be disappointed to find she was making doll fingers from scratch to restore a doll. She was also an amazing seamstress sewing beautiful doll clothes both by hand and on her beloved machine.
Mary loved to have fun and had a wicked sense of humor. She was quick with her wit and kept everyone in stitches. Mary was also a fabulous southern cook and loved to entertain. She never met a stranger. She loved the outdoors and loved to sit on her porch and feel the gentle breeze. She was a beautiful, sweet lady who was loved by everyone who ever knew her. She will be missed terribly.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mary Choate will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA.
