Missouri Native Dies at Merkel Daughter's Home

Merkel, March 7 - Mrs. N. S. Bonner, 81, died at 2:40 this afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Garland, where she had made her home for more than two years. Mrs. Bonner suffered a stroke of paralysis on August 4, 1936, since which she had been confined to her bed. Her condition had been critical this past week.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ here, conducted by J. P. Crenshaw, minister of Sweetwater, and Raymond Kelcey, minister of the Merkel church. Following the services, the body will be carried overland to Roby in a Barrow Funeral Home coach to be buried beside the grave of her second husband.

Born June 9, 1856 near St. Joseph, Mo., Mary Elizabeth Adkins was married in Falls County, Texas to Samuel J. Dunlap on Nov. 14, 1874. One child, a son, J. G. Dunlap, was born to this marriage. He lives in Sweetwater. Mr. Dunlap died Aug. 15, 1879 in Falls County.

She was then married on June 15, 1882 to N. S. Bonner in Falls County and the couple moved to Fisher County in 1897. Following the death of Mr. Bonner on March 5, 1927, Mrs. Bonner had made her home with a daughter in Sweetwater, Mrs. Dee McWhirter, and the daughter here.

Other survivors, besides the son and two daughters named, are a son, T. S. Bonner of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. W. R. Peters of Lott, and Mrs. O. E. Bonner of Littlefield, Texas.
