Lambert R. Abraham, age 89, of St. Leo, MN, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, MN with Fr. Ron Huberty officiating. Burial will be in the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm and Rosary to follow on Friday, February 10, 20223 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN and will resume Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lambert Raymond Abraham was born on April 23. 1933 in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County. He attended District 94 Country School but would have much preferred to be out in the fields with his older brothers. He was baptized into the Catholic faith, received his First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at St. Leo Catholic Church where he was a very active and lifetime member. He worked at the John Deere combine factory in East Moline, IL for a short time before working on the road for a couple of years. He enjoyed listening to polka music. He was a very good dancer and loved a good waltz. He often reminisced about the dances back in the good old days at Bohemian Hall. He enjoyed playing cards, especially with his grandchildren where shenanigans were always sure to happen.
In July of 1962. Lambert met his best friend and soul mate, Alice Schacherer, at the Green Door Supper Club. Lambert asked, and Alice said 'yes', and they were united in marriage on April 27, 1963. The Lord blessed them with four children: Bruce, Melissa, Rodney and Thomas.
Lambert was devoted to three things in his life: family, faith and farming. To Lambert, family was everything. Family was always his first priority. He dearly loved his family; both the family he created with Alice and the family he grew up with. Lambert's grandchildren brought him so much joy. He cherished each one of them. He was always very involved in their lives and has given them many beautiful memories. With cookies and a pop from Grandma, going out in the field and riding in the tractor with Grandpa was always the best day ever. Lambert's great grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. He felt very blessed to welcome this new generation into the world.
Lambert was very strong in his Catholic faith. He loved the Lord, and prayer was very important to him. He faithfully attended mass every week. Lambert and Alice greeted the sunrise every morning while praying the rosary. Lambert was definitely born to be a farmer. He and Alice farmed north of St. Leo before acquiring their own farm east of St. Leo in 1969. Lambert was proud to be a farmer, and often referred to his fields as 'the Lord's gardens'. He worked in the fields through the fall of 2022. He was loyal to John Deere green his entire life.
Through the years, there were many John Deere toys given to grandchildren for birthdays and Christmas, further instilling the love of farming onto the next generation. Lambert Abraham passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday. February 4. 2023 at the age of 89.

Those greeting him in heaven are his wife, Alice, and infant son, Bruce. Others preceding him in death are his parents, Lena and Leo Abraham. Brothers, Arnold, Clarence, Leroy and Ralph Abraham. Sisters, Eleanor Eischens, Mildred Eischens, Bernice Stafford, Lavina Fox and infant sister Marian.
