Cynthia (Cindy) Marie Vukovits, 61, of South Bend, IN, unexpectedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, February 6, 2023. Born September 25, 1961, in South Bend, she is preceded by her son Jarrod Paul Vukovits, as well as two other children, and her parents Raymond and Ann Rospopo. She is survived by her husband Terrance Lee Vukovits, son Peter John Vukovits (Jeff Vukovits), sister Patricia Ann Tomaszewski (John Tomaszewski), brother-in-law Gary John Vukovits (Vicki Vukovits), and her many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Marian High School, she pursued her career by obtaining her master's degree in education at Indiana University South Bend, where she was later employed, touching the lives of thousands. Prior to this, she taught at St. Bavo School as a special education teacher, which she absolutely loved. One of her favorite hobbies was singing, being a part of the South Bend Symphonic Choir for years after singing in the choir at Christ the King Church, as well as St. Mary of the Assumption Church. In her spare time, she also belonged to The Society of Creative Anachronisms (SCA), a medieval recreation group, where she practiced archery for nearly two decades. Through the group, she met an abundance of good people, who she will not soon be forgotten. Cindy was the very definition of resilience, instilling it within all those who had crossed her path, shining her light as she always did. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
