Mr. Phillip Anthony Acker, age 64, of Rome, GA, was unexpectedly called home by Jesus on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Phillip was born in Rome, Georgia on September 17, 1958, to the late Herschel Acker and the late Patricia E. Mayne Acker Carver. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Michael Carver and by a brother, Ken Acker. Phillip graduated from Armuchee High School. He married Tina Denise Blalock on September 21, 1985. Phillip was of Baptist faith. He was a devoted husband, father, papaw and friend. His generosity and love will be missed not only by family but by many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years; daughter; son, and his girlfriend; granddaughter; brother; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved.

While dad held many titles in life, he was certainly an outstanding father to Anthony and I. He was the hardest working man I knew and if help was ever needed, it came so freely from him. He made a career of welding and loved creating things in his off time. He was a jokester and a prankster and loved giving a good laugh. He easily passed on his love for the outdoors with Anthony and I. Fishing, hunting, and gardening were his passions, and he was always willing to teach. He truly was the best husband to my mom, and the best father, to Anthony and I. He was also the best papaw to "June-bug". He was a great friend to all. He will truly be missed.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 12:00 until 1:45pm. The funeral services will be held shortly after at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. Pastor Greg Montgomery will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
