Cecile Marie Hubbell Blanchard, 91 a resident of New Orleans and a native of Vacherie, LA, died February 1, 2023. Cecile was born on September 7, 1931. She was the Valedictorian of her class at St. James High School and moved to New Orleans to study at Spencer Business College. Cecile worked at Bemis Bag Company, Corsair Tie Company and New York Life Insurance. She was a woman of Faith carried out through her life of Mass attendance and prayer, teaching religious education, and discussions with people she encountered. Known by many names, she was called "Sis" by her family, "Cele" by her work friends, and "Nannan" or "Nanny "by her Godchildren. She had a passion for roses, was an avid reader and a devoted Saints fan. Cecile is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Blanchard; son, Dan Blanchard; grandson, Matt Blanchard; brother, James Hubbell; sisters-in-law, Rose, Geraldine, Cheryl Hubbell; sister, Marie Louise Hubbell Frilot; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Anthony Blanchard; baby daughter; parents, Philip and Cecile Laiche Hubbell; brothers, Philip, Gerald and Charles Hubbell; brother-in-law, Barry Frilot; sisters-in-laws, Ersaline, Mickey, Judy Hubbell; daughter-in-law, Melody Blanchard. The family is grateful to the staff of Our Lady of Wisdom for their care. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hammond State School. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM followed by a Mass at 12:00PM.
