Corporal, 99th Bomb Squadron, 9th Bomb Group, World War II.
Radio Operator and one of five airmen killed in the crash of B-25C Mitchell #42-32369, north-northeast of Bunnell, Florida.
The aircrew were returning to base and flying at 15,000 feet when the pilot gave a radio call and reported that he was lost and approaching a large thunder cell system. The radio tower gave instructions to turn and the pilot acknowledged. No further contact with the aircraft was received. Investigators believed the medium bomber disintegrated in flight after at least one motor failed after entering an intense thunderstorm.
