Born on September 28, 1953, in Wisner, LA, Gene was the youngest of four children and the only son of Edgar E. Garrison, Jr., and Augustine A. Guice. He passed away at home on Friday, January 6, 2023.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2023, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chackbay LA, from 9:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with burial to follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Martinez Garrison; daughter, Hollie Ann Garrison, sisters, Sharon F. Weeks (Casey), Donna G. Thornhill (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar E. Garrison Jr. and Augustine A. Guice; sister, Brenda G. Abadie (Nolan) and nephew Edward "Eddie" Abadie.

When Gene was in grade school, the Garrison family moved from Sicily Island, LA, to Thibodaux, LA, where he graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1972 and where he met the girl who would become his wife of 49 years.

In 1978, Gene earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Northeast Louisiana University and, after a brief career in construction, shifted his focus to the petroleum industry.

While working for McDermott Engineering, Gene was a member of the team of engineers who provided the surveying required during fabrication of Union Oil's Cerveza Ligera oil jacket - the second largest single-piece deepwater platform jacket ever constructed. Gene went on to work for B.J. Hughes for the remainder of his career, retiring after 32 years with the company.

Gene loved his family first and all things electronic second - especially computers. He was an avid recumbent triker and enjoyed planning trips and pedaling along the Rails-to-Trails network.

He was a BBQ master, crawfish connoisseur, amateur astronomer, favorite playmate of all his grand-dogs, and the handiest handyman to ever wield a wrench.

His family will miss him every day, but never so much as around the dinner table and when gazing at the stars from his beloved and meticulously manicured backyard.
