Buried in the Jarvis plot. Transferred from the Presb. Ch. Cemetery, Hempstead LI on 8 May 1895, with six other family members, as noted in the interment records at Maple Grove. Daughter Carrie Wood married William Jarvis in 1880 and were the owners of the plot which was first used on 4 May 1893 for their infant, age 1 y 6 m transferred from Prospect Cemetery in Jamaica. The death date for the infant was not recorded in the interment records.

Daughter of Rem Remsen (b. abt 1793 Jamaica - 1842 age 46) and Sarah Isaac Bennet (1796-1842), who were married 13 Jan 1813. Their 8th of 9 children: Eliza Jane Remsen b. 5 Dec 1832, baptized 20 Jan 1833 in the First Reformed Church of Jamaica.

1850 census, Elsie J Wood age 18, with husband Eldert (Eldred) Wood, age 25, a cigar maker, and infant Eliza E Wood living in the Town of Jamaica.
1860 census, Elderd (Eldred) Wood 38, , (b. 1822, d 8 Oct 1866) a cigar maker, and his wife Elsie Jane Wood 28, (b. 1832) a dressmaker, with their children: Eliza E 10, Sarah P 8, Laura J 5 and Carrie C 11/12 mo.

After her husband Eldred Wood died in 1866, Elsie married Thomas W. Clary (1830-1879). Elsie's death certificate is under the name Elsie J Clary, burial records in Maple Grove are under Elsie J. Wood. In 1870, Elsie Clary 38, is living in Jamaica with 2nd husband Thomas W. Clary 40, a mason and their combined families. His children Harriet 18, Mary 17, Lottie 14, Lina 8, George 6 and two of Elsie's children: Jane 14 and Carrie 10. Thomas b. 10 Apr 1829 in Boston, d. 27 Jul 1904 in Jamaica and is buried in Prospect Cemetery Jamaica with his first wife Charlotte A Clary.

Granddaughter of American Patriot Auris Remsen (1758-1839), private in the Suffolk county Militia, 1st regiment of minute men under Col. Josiah Smith. Auris Remsen was one of a last of inhabitants of Queens county to sign a declaration of allegiance to Provincial and Continental Congresses, in the defense of American liberty, Jan. 19, 1776. His wife was Ann Bergen, descended from Hans Hansen Bergen b. 1614 Bergen Norway and d. 30 May 1654 in Brooklyn and his wife Sarah Rapalje 1625-1685
