John L. Storm, a former Roman Catholic monsignor, committed suicide by drowning at the age of 56. A popular cleric & president of the University of San Diego College for Men, he left the university following a period of conflict between himself & bishop Charles Buddy, an "old-line" Catholic. By 1968, he quit the priesthood & by 1974 had joined the Protestant faith. His suicide note indicated he had not been able to find peace within himself since he left the Catholic church.
