GREENVILLE, Texas --Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Gober, Fannin County, for William Carpenter. 75, lifelong resident of Gober who died in Baylor Hospital, Dallas, after an illness of three weeks.
The Rev. Ben F. Hern and the Rev. Odie Carry, both of Bonham, conducted. Burial was in the Gober Cemetery.
Born in Gober Jan. 1, 1881, Carpenter was the son of James M Carpenter and Maggie Cook Carpenter. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Gober.
Surviving are three sons,, Elmo Carpenter, Pecos; Frank Carpenter, Dallas, Duke Carpenter, Garland; four daughters, Mrs. D.B. Onstott, Garland;Mrs. Warren Mills, Pauls Valley, Okla; Mrs. W.C. Nelson, Bonham, and Mrs. Allen Goodwin, Fort Worth; a brother, R.E. Carpenter, Dumas; one sister, Mrs. Betty Terry, Leonard; 28 grandchildren and 25 Great-grandchildren.
