Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at M.K Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin for Ian C. Burgess, 32, of Franklin, who passes away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Ian Christopher Burgess was born June 28, 1985 in New Iberia to Joy and Craig Burgess. He attended high school at Louisiana School of Math, Science and Art in Natchitoches and continued his education at University of Louisiana and Louisiana State University where he became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Members of the SAE are a very close knit group of guys who may as well be family. Ian adored and loved his brothers so much and they loved him, which is evident from all of the love, prayers and support that the family has received from them.

Ian was quite the sports fan of just about all sports, but a couple of his personal favorites that he liked to play were tennis, basketball and baseball. He was one of the most intelligent people you'll ever meet who loved trivia and reading. He was always up for a good debate and intriguing discussions, but also knew when to just agree to disagree.

Ian is survived by his mother Joy Burgess of Centerville, his father and step mother Craig and Shelley Burgess of Charenton, his brother Kyle of Charenton, his sister Grace and her children, Lucy (his Godchild and niece) and Van (his nephew) of Charenton, his step brother Dustin and his three children and his step sister Jada and her three children. He also leaves his maternal grandmother Edna Stroud of Centerville, his step maternal grandparents Gene and Gayle Louviere of Franklin, Grandma Marcotte of Charenton and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Theo Stroud, paternal grandparents Bert and Ruth Burgess and Grandpa Marcotte.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by M.K. Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with the burial to follow at the Chitimacha Mausoleum.
