Lenny Bay was born on March 1st, 1944 to Lenny Bay and Ethel Delong in Butte, Montana. Lenny attended Butte High school, where he developed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for learning. His childhood was an idyllic time in his life, which he recalled fondly.
After Lenny graduated from Butte High School in 1962, he was congressionally nominated to attend the United States Military Academy – West Point where he studied Engineering. After graduating with a Bachelor's of science degree in engineering, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army.
In 1970, Lenny was introduced to Rosita Eva Cutlip in Germany with the help of a friend from India. Lenny and Rosita went on to have 3 children, Christopher Scott, Marcus Aaron and Sairah Elise. Lenny and Rosita also are grandparents to 4 grandchildren, Jacob Austin, Mckenna Catherine, Adonia Creedence and Thalia Sabbath.
He was a devoted father and grandfather who created relationships and connections with everyone that was lucky enough to meet him. He looked forward to visits from his grandkids and instilled in them a love for life and a tolerance for algebra. He had an amazing memory and told entertaining stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Even in his last few days, he told stories from throughout his life, and he would tell us about his dreams but in reality, the life he lived was bigger than most people's dreams.
In his retired years, Lenny spent the majority of his time with his loving wife when he wasn't sharpening swords, collecting knives or shooting the wind chimes from the back deck.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosita Eva; children, Christopher Scott of Smithville, MO, Marcus Aaron and Amy Elizabeth of Burke, VA and Sairah Elise and Francisco Eduardo Javier of San Antonio; grandchildren: Jacob Austin, Mckenna Catherine; and Adonia Creedence, Thalia Sabbath and his sister Leah Zolynski of Whitehall, MT. Lenny was predeceased by Lenny Bay – (Father), Ethel Delong – (Mother), Leona Ferris – (Aunt), Leo Bay – (Uncle).
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic church on February 11th, 2023 from 10:00 a.m.-12 p.m.
