Edna is the daughter of Aaron Gurney Kierstead 1857-1924 and Ellen Tamzen Nottingham 1860-1941. She married Samuel W. Durben 1888-1933 around 1915. They had six children, Raymond 1916-1944; Vera Marie 1919; Earl J. 1921-2001; Fred H. 1923-1944; Clara 1927-2004; and John E. 1930-2007.
Edna was widowed young and never remarried, raising her children by herself. Not only did she loose her husband at an early age, she lost two sons at Luxembourg during World War II within months of each other. Fred fell October 30, 1944, and Raymond was killed December 30, 1944.∼W/O Samuel W
