Funeral of Miss Sawyer.
The funeral services of Miss Florence Bess Sawyer was held at the New Salem Presbyterian church Thursday morning at eleven o'clock conducted by Rev. W.C. Templeton of Winfield.

A large congregation more than fill the church was present to pay their tribute of respect and love to the beautiful character of the deceased and to sympathize with the parents and other relatives.

A quartette choir composed of Miss Ethel Brooking, Miss Ida Clark and E.L. Hockman and F.C. Coffey sang very impressively "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me," "Beyond the Smiling and the Weeping," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Miss Crystal Mickley accompanied them on the piano. The pall bearers were six young lady friends of the deceased: Mabel and Hazel Thirsk, Grace Stevenson, Alice Williams, Nettie Patterson and Edna King.

The minister, Dr. W.C. Templeton spoke from John 13:7: "What I Do Thou Knowest Not now, but thou shalt know hereafter." He referred to the mysteries of life; that there are many things all along life's pathway, which cannot be understood by these finite minds. Among other thins why a beautiful young life like this should be cut off in the very morning of her worldly existence, but assured the sorrowing friends that what is mysterious and difficult to understand now will be made clear when we reached the eternal home.

Miss Bess was a splendid Christian girl, having united with the church when ten years of age and was specially noted for her christian character and many splendid qualities of mind and heart. The interment was in the New Salem cemetery, where was laid to rest all that is mortal of this beloved daughter and friend.
