He also was the country's Minister of Justice from March 27, 1976, to June 12, 1981. A graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Warsaw, he later became a judge in Krakow before becoming president of the Provincial Court in Warsaw. In 1958, he began working in the Ministry of Justice, where he remained until 1969. He also taught at the Faculty of Law of the University of Warsaw and the University of Silesia in Katowice. Bafia was head of the Chancellery of the Sejm from 1969 to 1972 and a deputy to the Sejm of the Polish People's Republic for the sixth and seventh terms.
