Born June 5, 1931, at home on the family farm in Amberson, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Elsie (McGee) Eckenrode. She attended a one room school in Amberson and graduated in 1950 from the former high school in Dry Run.
Naomi was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She faithfully assisted her husband in the operation of their dairy farm and there wasn't much that she was not capable of and willing to do from milking to operating machinery. Following the death of her husband she continued assisting on the farm with her son, Ben. Her family also remembers her love of cooking and preparing meals for family and friends. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables and was very fond of her cats.
Mrs. Stake was a member of the Amberson United Methodist Church and in her earlier years was active in Helping Hands and Ladies Aid.
Surviving are 4 children: Brenda N. Doney and husband, Leland, of Waynesboro, Bruce F. Stake and wife Peggy, of Amberson, Bonnie L. Geist and husband, Randy, Upper Strasburg and Ben A. Stake of Amberson; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter who affectionally called her "Grandma and Maw Maw."
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Morgan R. Stake and a great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Peters, a brother, Glenn Eckenrode and a sister, Mary Piper.
Viewing Monday, Feb. 27 at 10 AM in the Amberson United Methodist Church, 18888 Amberson Road, Spring Run, PA 17262, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Philip G. Foster, Jr., officiating. Interment Amberson Union Cemetery.
