Betty A. Fangman, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Born in San Leon, TX, on December 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Floy (Collins) Ames. Betty was a good student, skipping several grades, and graduating from Dickinson (TX) High School at the age of 15.

Shortly after graduation, Betty moved with her mom to San Antonio, where she lived for several years and considered home. It is there where she began her career as a professional administrative assistant at Brown Express Trucking Company.

After marrying in San Antonio, she moved briefly to Ontario, CA and Seattle, WA (where she became a mom) and, finally, to Newark, DE. After several years as a stay-at-home mom, Betty re-entered the workforce at Morgan Millwork on South Market Street in Wilmington and then at Produce Marketing Associates in Newark, from which she retired.

In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading, attending her grandchildren's sporting events and traveling to the St. Louis area to spend time with her brother and his family, particularly her nieces who were the daughters she never had. If you know anything about pecan pie, you know she made the best this side of Texas.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur W. Ames,

Sr. She is survived by her son, Donald A. Fangman, Jr. (Joyce); grandchildren, Chad Reedy (Sara), Danielle Fangman, and Todd Fangman (Zeena); great-grandchildren, Willow Purcell, Charlotte Reedy, Adler Fangman, and Layla Fangman; and many nieces and nephews.

All services will be held privately. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles, MO, where she will be laid to rest beside her mother and brother.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Millcroft Skilled Nursing Facility for their kind and compassionate care over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to the Art Therapy Express Program, Inc., P.O. Box 1661, Hockessin, DE 19707.
