Kenneth Eugene Coolidge was born on the Coolidge family farm to Charles and Dorothy (Grimes) Coolidge on January 23, 1943 in Chambers, NE. He graduated from Chambers High School in 1962 and moved to Lincoln, NE to attend Lincoln School of Commerce. In 1964, he was hired by Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Florence Stephens started at Goodyear shortly after that as summer help. Florence had asked for help with her car and the person she asked agreed to look at it but needed to ask his ride if it was okay. Kenneth happened to be his ride. Kenneth started following Florence home every night making sure she made it home safely and after several weeks asked her to a movie. He said but not this weekend because he was driving home to Chambers. Florence said that would be a long, lonely trip and Kenneth said no that he was taking a girl home with him. Florence then said that should be fun and Kenneth said no she's Catholic. Then the following week they went out to a movie and after the movie Kenneth said that was fun and Florence said with a Catholic. Kenneth said Florence tricked him but that they ended up getting married on May 21, 1966 and would have been married 55 years in May. They had four children: Joseph Wayne in February of 1968, Vonda Rose in March of 1969, Jeanette Marie in 1975, and Rebecca Ann in 1980. Kenneth retired from Goodyear in 1991. He enjoyed singing with the Lincoln Continentals until he could not see to read the music, loved playing Santa and loved genealogy.
