Frances Delores (Alderton) Abel age 87 of Cedar Springs passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Medilodge of Grand Rapids. Frances was born August 6, 1935 in Reed City, MI the daughter of Fern and Lola (Irvine) Alderton. She grew up in Reed City until 1950 when the family moved to Cadillac where Frances graduated in 1953. Frances worked at Butterworth Hospital before she and Albert met and married in November 1956. She was a stay at home Mom to their four children. Frances was very active in the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church and made sure her four children were active as well.

After retirement in 1995 Frances and Albert bought a motor home and spent the late fall visiting her sisters in Texas, Chris and Marilyn in Las Vegas and then winters volunteering for Wycliffe Translators Facility in Tucson, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fern and Lola (Irvine) Alderton; husband, Albert; sister, Alice Kidder; brothers, David Alderton and Darrell Alderton. Frances Abel's memorial service is being held in May to suit her love of spring time and flowers. The family will greet family and friends 10:00 am Saturday, May 13 at K. E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs with services following at 11:00 am. Interment Sand Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church, Cedar Springs. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Medilodge of Grand Rapids for the last two years and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Frances.
