Ira Clarkson, 82, 212 West Curtis, Liberal, died late last night at Epworth Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. he had been in failing health for several years. He had made his home in Liberal since 1912, when he came here with his family from Alva, Oklahoma. Mr. Clarkson was a plasterer and was well known throughout this area before his retirement a number of years ago. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, four sons, Joseph, Mesa, Arizona, Homer, Van Nuys, California, Hugh, Casper, Wyoming, and William of the U.S. Navy; and four daughters, Mrs. Glenn Marcellus, Liberal, Mrs. Earl Howeard, San Ysidero, California, Mrs. Cecelia Howard, Liberal, and Mrs. Edgar Laird, Great Bend. In addition, he is survived by his aged stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Clarkson, Enid, OK., three brothers, Edward, Cleo Springs, OK, Orville, Marshall, OK, and J.J., Albuquerque, New Mexico; five sisters, Mrs. Dora Strowther, Centralia, Washington, Mrs Charles Collicott of Great Bend, Miss Tillie Clarkson, Enid, OK, Mrs. Edith Houghton, Enid Oklahoma, and Mrs. Ralph Clothier, Wichita; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church at 10 am tomorrow. Rosary will be in Miller Chapel at 8 pm tonight. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.
