Immediately after his death Emily moved to Lancefield. From 1923 she was living at 28 Spencer Street, North Essendon where she died in 1956

He returned to New Zealand wounded in 1917 and had been in indifferent health ever since. He was sent to the Greytown Hospital and underwent an operation from which he died on 8 Jan 1919
