The world, her family and her many friends, lost a bright light and cheerful spirit when Lou Ann Brewer Yow passed away in the early morning of January 14, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born December 16, 1934, in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to the late Curtis Monroe Brewer and Mary Elizabeth Fishel Brewer. Lou Ann was a long-time resident of Lewisville, North Carolina, graduating from Lewisville High School in 1953, in the same class as her high school sweetheart and future husband Marvin Yow. Lou Ann and Marvin were married at her parents' home 69 years ago, and raised their family next door in a home that Marvin built.

Lou Ann was a devoted member of Lewisville United Methodist Church for 66 years. For Lou Ann life always centered on her family. Raising her two sons, Kerry Layne Yow of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Dr. Kevin Brewer Yow, MD, of Tucson, Arizona, as well as helping raise her granddaughter Kimberly Yow Self of Stokesdale was the focus of her younger years. Lou Ann's other grandchildren, Dawson Yow, a college senior and violist at the North Carolina School of the Arts and Thomas Yow, a college freshman in Wilmington made her very proud indeed! Seeing her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren Maddox and Easton thriving was her greatest joy. She is survived by Marvin her husband of almost 69 years, Kevin and his partner, Louise, Kerry and his wife Dixie, granddaughter Kimberly and her husband Robert, her sister Lavetta Brewer Craft and husband Ed Craft of Lewisville, brother-in-law Floyd Craft (Polly), nieces Carmen Craft Long, Carol Craft McCormick (Les), Penny Craft Lynch (Riley) and nephew Ed Craft (Beth) and by many members of her extended family and friends both in North Carolina and at the Fountains Of La Cholla Independent Living in Tucson Arizona. During the pandemic, Marvin and Lou Ann moved to Tucson where she enjoyed it never being cold!

Lou Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Polly Brewer Craft, her niece, Deborah Craft Jones, and great-granddaughter Spencer Grace Self.

Lou will be remembered for her happy spirit which persisted despite the battle with dementia, and love of celebrating the holidays, particularly Christmas, with family. She and Marvin enjoyed travel, often to his many Navy Chiefs events, where she made friends throughout the country. At home she enjoyed hosting and playing bridge and never met a yard sale she didn't like. Anywhere Lou could meet people was her favorite place including work at Western Electric Reynolda Road for many years, and after retiring from there, at the Casual Corner store in the mall and selling "Christmas Around the World" figurines for which she won a prize trip to Hawaii! She relished the thrill of finding a great treasure at Goodwill, many of which are now cherished by members of her family.

Her service will be at the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Lewisville, North Carolina on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 11 AM. A brief committal service will follow at the Lewisville United Methodist Church Ash Garden and then a social hour and a remembrance of life with all friends and family at Lewisville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
