RED LION Adrian E. Spangler, 78, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the husband of the late Romaine E. (Kline) Spangler.

Funeral services and burial will be private in Red Lion Cemetery.

Born July 25, 1929, in West York, a son of the late Paul S. and Ethyl Mae (Bubb) Spangler, he was a 1947 graduate of Red Lion High School.

Mr. Spangler retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1988 after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Engineering Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church; Viking Athletic Assoc.; Victory Athletic Assoc.; Dallastown American Legion; was a member of the former Red Lion Country Club; and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and numerous friends.

Mr. Spangler is survived by a daughter, Jill D. and husband, Roland Thompson of York; two sons, Jay D. and wife, Jane Matthews, and Jere D. Matthews, both of York; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Patricia L. and husband, Phil Golden of Red Lion, and Joyce E. and husband, M. Lee Seitz of York; and nieces and nephews.
