CLAUDIA FRANCES ROBINSON At peace March 14, 2002 at the age of 92. Born October 26, 1909 in Morristown, Minnesota, she was the sixth of eight children of Charles and Laura (Semon) Goar. Her siblings, Leo, Frederick, Viola, Glenn, Donald, Chester and Ruth all predeceased her. After graduating from business school in Minnesota in 1929 she worked first for the Tri State Telephone Company. Later she was a fund raising director for the Community Chest of St. Paul, and the American Red Cross, both in St. Paul and in San Francisco. After 23 years as a wife and mother she returned to work in 1967 for Blue Shield of California. On March 24, 1945 she married Brigadier General Donald Brandt Robinson. They built their first home on a small ranch in Hemet, California. They spent summers at their homes at Lake Tahoe, and in 1956 settled in San Rafael, Marin County, where they lived until General Robinson's death in 1967. She then lived in the same San Francisco apartment for 32 years before coming to the Newark-Fremont area in 1999 to be closer to family. She loved gardening, once having an entire acre of rose bushes. She enjoyed needlepointing, and sewed quits, baby blankets and Christmas stockings for generations of friends and family. She was an avid reader and followed the stock market until the day before her death. She also enjoyed collecting Hummels, Waterford, Belleek, Wedgwood and dolls. She loved spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Reed Sladen of Newark, grandson, Michael Sladen and his wife, Julie of Davis, granddaughter, Megan Sladen of Sacramento, granddaughter, Erin Sladen and husband, Tony Byrnes of Newark, and grandchildren, Nicholas, Sara and Arlene Sladen, also of Newark, also survived by great-grandchildren Kayli, Anthony and Ethan Byrnes, and Trevor Sladen.
