Ronald "Ron" Eugene Fisher was born on May 18, 1953 to Clemence and Marie (McConnell) Fisher. Ron grew up in St. Joseph attending Co-Cathedral, Christian Brothers, and graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1971. From there, he attended Missouri Western State College and received a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Sociology in 1974. He married his love, Margaret Anderson Cordry on April 25, 1980. To this union, Margaret brought a son, Ryan, to their family. Then in 1984, Ron and Margaret had their daughter, Angie. Ron was affectionately known by family and friends as "Fisher" or "Fish".

Fisher joined the St. Joseph Police Department in November of 1974. During his tenure, he was awarded the Police Officer of the Year in 1977 by the St. Joseph Fraternal Order of the Police. He retired from the SJPD in November of 1999. He then went on to work for the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department the same year. During his time with the sheriff's department, he was awarded the Missouri's Best Bailiff in 2009. After 41 years in law enforcement, he decided to retire on June 1, 2015.

Fisher was an avid hunter with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. He especially enjoyed deer and waterfowl hunting. None of these adventures meant more to him than sharing the love of the sport with his family and friends. Fisher would often round up some kids from the Deer Park neighborhood to go on an impromptu fishing trip. He could also be found at the annual fishing derby at Krug Park sharing his love of fishing with the youth of St. Joseph. He was a proud supporter of Delta Waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited, Northwest Turkey Federation, and recently was inducted into the Waterfowler's Hall of Fame in Mound City. Fisher was a member of the Southside Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3. He has served as president of both the Southside Lions Club and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3.

Fisher never met a stranger and had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He always had a way of making every person feel like they had a place and that they belonged.

Fisher is preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Sylvia McConnell; and brother, Garry Fisher. Fisher is survived by his wife; stepson, Ryan Cordry (Sheetal) Homewood, AL; daughter, Angie Fisher, St. Joseph, MO; nephew, John Matthew Fisher (Erin) Liberty, MO; brother, Wayne, St. Joseph, MO; three grandchildren, Eva, Raj, and Dev; special buddies, Mack and Riggs (Buddha) Fisher; and many other family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Fish will be missed but not forgotten. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman Smith Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Cathedral, 519 N. 10th Street, St. Joseph, MO. Internment with follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
