Politician. Born Jan Bierut, he was the son of Bolesław Bierut, who served as the president of Poland from 1947 to 1952. He served in the Polish People's Army during World War II. He then became an adjutant to his father, who at the time was the president of the National Council of National Remembrance, in 1945 and changed his surname to Chylinski. After earning a master's degree in engineering from the Moscow Aviation Institute, he worked at the Communication Equipment Factory in Rzeszów and the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw. Chylinski was named vice chairman of the Science and Technology Committee in 1963, serving until 1965, and then became deputy minister of heavy industry from 1965 to 1967 and deputy minister of machine industry from 1967 to 1970. He was vice chairman of the Planning Commission at the Council of Ministers from 1971 to 1978, and from 1971 to 1981 Chylinski acted as a member of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party. Chylinski also served as the Polish ambassador to West Germany from 1978 to 1981.
